Maggie - My little Mags (no. 5)
Posted Jun 17, 2009 by kimberly Uncategorized
Meet Maggie. She is foster dog no. 5. I was a little apprehensive bringing her home because I didn’t discuss this with James - at all. It happened rather fast. She didn’t get adopted at an adoption event and if she was brought back to the shelter - well, lets just say her chances were not good. I had her in the office and when he walked in the door I let all the dogs out at once. I think his exact words were, “Hey Darla…. What the heck are you?” I am so glad he loves me.
I am alsways scared bringing another dog into the house. Not only because of what James is going to say, but how my alpha Darla is going to react. Thankfully, Maggie is as submissive as can be. Not an ounce of alpha in her. I do feel that with all the dogs that have come through the house, Darla is getting used to the idea that there will be more. I think she knows she dosent have to defend her turf as much as she once did. I think she feels secure. She knows we are not going to give her up or dump her in the foothills. Don’t get me wrong - she is annoying as all get out. Her need to run along the fenceline and bite at the same two boards, which she has managed to bit through all but a 1/4″, could drive a person up the wall. I sometimes wonder what my neighbors think of me as I scream at her every-time-she-goes-outside. But, I digress.
Maggie and Darla get along great. In fact, Maggie gets along with all three of my mutts. She sleeps through the night, though she does snore - but its quirky and who dosent like quirky. She is almost house trained. well, she is house trained when I am around, James on the other hand forgets to let her out which is the reason for the “almost” next to the house trained.
She is great on a leash, is learning sit and stay. She is not a digger or barker, though she is a vocal lass. She loves her nylabone. All-in-all she is a super great dog. I love her. However, in order to allow more fosters I need to find her an adoptive family who wants to give her all the love they have. If you feel you can provide this, please shoot me an email.
She is a bull terrier mix, approximately 18 mo, and 40lbs (okay I totally guessed on the weight, but she is pretty small). She is spayed - which is a must for any dog being adopted through me. Did you know that a female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 dogs in 6 years. Thats alot of dogs (and not near enough homes). Talk to you soon.
